Ideas to document, assess and celebrate your yearly goals and accomplishments.
At the beginning of the new year, we tend to focus heavily on our vision and intentions for the year. However, I think it's equally important to set realistic goals and celebrate the wins - big and small.
Here are four ideas to celebrate or document your accomplishments and feel-good moments throughout the year.
Jar of 52
Items needed:
A glass jar
52 pieces of paper
Pen or marker
At the end of each week, write down something you achieved or one good thing that happened to you over the course of the week. Review your jar of 52 at the end of the year..
Treat yourself
Items needed:
Gift cards or certificates (retail or self-care recommended)
Blank notecards with envelopes
Pen or marker
Write your goals on the envelopes and congratulatory notes to yourself in the cards. Stuff the cards and gift cards into the envelopes.
When you have accomplished each goal, read your card and treat yourself.
Let's Toast
Items needed:
Mini bottles of champagne, prosecco or sparkling wine
Blank notecards with envelopes
Adhesive (ex. tape, glue dots, etc,)
Pen or marker
At the beginning of the year, identify four SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based.
Write your goals on the envelopes and congratulatory notes to yourself in the cards. Stuff the cards into the envelopes and affix to the bottles.
When you have accomplished each goal, read your card, pop your bottle and celebrate
Note to self
*This is a group activity.
Items needed:
Notecards/stationery and envelopes
Postage stamps
Pens or markers
On a notecard or stationery, write a note to yourself - checking in on the progress of your goals. Stuff the notecard or stationery into the envelope and seal it.
Address the envelope to yourself. Leave the sender corner blank.
Swap your envelope with someone else.
Each person should set a calendar reminder to mail the envelope they have in their possession. I recommend mailing the envelope in the second or third quarter of the year to give your person time to work on their goal(s) if they haven't already made significant progress. (Make sure to add the sender's mailing address.)
It's a great surprise when the notes arrive!
Give one or all of these a try for the new year!
