This 2-ingredient party punch is perfect for the holidays, bridal showers, baby showers and other special occasions.
I absolutely love hosting intimate gatherings. Much of this was prompted from watching my mom host house parties in my younger years. Preparation and clean-up were always daunting but so worth making our guests feel special. As I tap deeper into my hostess era, I'm dusting off family traditions. It's important for me to keep these joyful moments going.
For many years, my mom hosted a Christmas holiday party. There were some staple, must-have items on the menu - pigs-in-the-blanket, barbeque smokies, meatballs, pimento cheese sandwiches, buffalo wings, cake squares from a local bakery, fruit tray, vegetable tray, cashews, soft mints... and lime sherbet punch. Man! I loved that lime sherbet punch. And, yes! I add an additional "R" in sherbet. We would make it in a bunch bowl and serve with a punch spoon. Memories!
The lime sherbet punch wasn't just reserved for the holidays but baby showers and church functions as well! It was a punch recipe that circulated throughout my community - a relatively small town in South Carolina.
I recently made the lime sherbet punch for my bookclub meeting and it made my soul happy. Check out my short video!
If you've had this before, perhaps this prompts fond memories and, if you've never had it, I hope it makes your soul happy too.
My Mama's Sherbet Party Punch
Ingredients
2 half gallons or quarts of sherbet of choice*
1 - 2-liter ginger ale (or lime soda if using lime sherbet) (refrigerated or frozen with a little slush)
1/2 to 1 cup of pineapple juice (optional)
Bottle of prosecco (optional)
*Note: Lime sherbet is perfect for the Christmas holidays. However, you can use any flavor/color. You can also switch out the soda flavor. Ginger ale works with any flavor sherbet.
Instructions
Remove sherbet from freezer and leave on counter to partially soften about 30 to 60 minutes before making the punch.
In a punch bowl or drink dispenser, dump the sherbet first.
Add the ginger ale or lime soda. Stir the mix with a large spoon and break up some of the sherbet. (You don't need to break it all down).
Add 1/2 cup of pineapple juice and taste. You can add more pineapple juice to your liking. Taste the punch each time you add.
If your guests like a little jazz, have a bottle of prosecco to top off their cup of punch!
This makes about 10 servings.
Enjoy!
